   Scape Done!
[14/01/2007 14:56]

I just finished arranging my rocks. The water is still a bit cloudy but you get the idea.

The white rocks on the left are Reef rocks from aquaristic.net, they will hopefully get some color in time.

   New year, new stuff
[08/01/2007 23:59]

It has been a buisy couple of weeks for my tank. I have almost cleared out a local reefers tank and got most of his live rock and a pair of A. melanopus clownfish.

I also bought a cleanup crew of snail and hermit crabs from my LFS, there has been some algae but it has stopped growing now and the snails are eating up whats left.

Also my dry reef rock arrived from aquaristic.net, I have put 2 pieces in the tank. 14kg of dry rock is a lot! I got one huge piece that I will have to figure out where to put in the tank.

   About my tank
[02/12/2006 14:30]

My tank is 150x60x60cm and 540 liters, it has a sump made from a 112l glass aquarium. It used to house Tanganiykan cichlids and had 5 "Back To Nature" fake rocks in it and a lot of sand. All this has been removed and sold off to help finice my salt desires.

The equipment i have now is:

  • 1 Grotech HEA-150 skimmer
  • 1 Eheim 1250 return pump
  • 2 Tunze 6060 Strem pumps with magnet holders
  • 1 Tunze Osmolator auto topoff system
  • 1 AquaEL 25W UV-c
  • 1 250W Bresslein Aquastar 1 MH
  • 1 36W Interpet power compact

Im planning to get a bigger return pump and use my 1250 only for my UV, and also to get another PC to get more light in the other corner of the tank.

Here is a picture of what the tank looked like when it was just emptied.

Welcome to Marcus first marine tank blog!
[02/12/2006 11:57]

Hello!

My name is Marcus and I'm from Sweden and I want to welcome you to my blog about my first saltwater aquarium.

First a little background, I have kept freshwater fish fo about 10 years and decided to get a marine tank in august 2006 when I saw a picasso triggerfish at a pet store. Since then I have sold my tanganiykan cichlids from one of my 540l tanks and converted it to saltwater. I don't have any fish yet however.
